Getting Past Those Journaling Blocks - Top Tip Tuesday.
Sometimes we can approach our journaling practice completely stuck. The blank page is daunting and you just feel frustrated!
Well, today's top tip should help with that! Before any journaling exercise, keep a separate journal for warming up in. It doesn't have to be expensive. The type of journal you choose will depend totally on your journal style. For example, watercolour, collage, writing, etc.
If you simply write in your journal, morning pages are a great way to loosen up. It's stream of consciousness writing and author Julia Cameron speaks about this in her book 'The Artists Way'.
If you art journal, loosen up in your separate journal by creating colour swatches and experimenting. Make shapes, marks, anything Just have fun and play!
In the following video I feature a precious little book where I swatch watercolours. It really helps me to warm up before I start painting.
So remember, have fun and play! Let go, loosen up and create a judgement free space. You will find moving past those blocks a lot easier!
